Diana's PhD project was 'Conservation and Society: a balancing act':
The fast degradation of ecosystems and biodiversity at a global scale has prompted research to develop methodologies that integrate environmental cost into societal decisions, and maximize environmental outcomes under finite budgets. Such approaches are usually based on the scientific understanding of natural systems and optimize for environmental outcomes.
However, implementation success of environmental protection projects rely on societal uptake. Therefore, effective conservation initiatives should also consider public preferences.
